Kendra D. - Houston TX: "I started on BARF diet for two reasons, firstly because I was concerned at the young age my dogs were losing teeth or they required Veterinary attention, and secondly was the death of our beautiful German Shepherd, Zarra, due to anal cancer. When Zarra was sick I consulted Sandra U. an animal natural therapist, as what our Vet was prescribing was no longer helping her. Sandra tried to convince me at that time not to feed her, or any of my dogs the expensive premium food I was then feeding and switch to a raw meat and vegetable diet. I think this collar-thing is behavioral and it's a security and comfort for him which he has come to love and he feels bare without it on. But I have to say he isn't scratching at all (he used to use his back paws to scratch the back of his front paws even while wearing his dog collar!) so I think he is improving. A book that we highly recommend & also sell is called "The BARF Diet" by Dr. Ian Billinghurst. This book goes into detail of the nutrition that bones and raw food gives your pet and also discusses what is really in commercial dog food.
