Wet noses are the norm!Forget the rumors, watch out for the myths. Truth be told: a wet nose is the norm for a dog! Since humidity is produced in the lateral nasal glands of the nose, all you need to know is it’s a sign of a healthy pet. For instance, if your dog (even if he’s healthy) has a dry nose, that’s a sign of a dehydrated dog. The 4-1-1: moisture is actually caused by the mucus lining. And while you may think your dog’s nose is always wet, it’s actually cool and moist. However, if your dog is sick you may notice the wet nose is runny or even dry. There are a few theories as to why the moisture exists. Some will say it helps cool the dog, others may argue it helps make the dog more sensitive to smell. And yet others may say that dogs simply lick their noses with their tongues which will result in a wet nose.
